Our holidays this year are going to be a jumble of activity as we pick up, pack up, and head west again after 15 years here in the Midwest.  I'm looking forward to hanging this project in our new home in a couple of months.

I was excited that the papers from our sponsor this month, Teresa Collins, offered this clean palette to play with.
The greens and pinks included in the array of papers were perfect for my altered canvas project!
For my project I used:
eBrush with the SN adapter
Spectrum Noir markers (FS6, TN2, TN7, GT1)
Off-white acrylic paint
16 x 20 canvas
chipboard (banner pennants)
TC papers (GlamFactor [Triangles], ProjectPins [Gold Dipped, Lattice], Collector's Edition [Guilded]
Brown patterned paper (stash)
Vinyl (stencil)

Glue (I also used a Xyron machine - with permanent adhesive)
die cutting machine that will accommodate BIGZ dies
electronic die cutting machine (letters, banner pennants, circles, vinyl stencil for the acronym sentiment)
Die - Tim Holtz (On the Edge Distressed Doily)
Ribbon and other embellishments as desired.

Using my electronic die cutting machine, I cut all the pieces referred to above and set them aside.  Weed the vinyl - removing the letters and leaving the background and apply some transfer tape and transfer the vinyl to the canvas.  Save the backing and tape if you use vinyl and plan on using the stencil again.  Cut any additional pieces you may need using the manual machine.
I hand cut or tore the pieces for the house,  heart, tree and sun and grass.  Set aside.




 Arrange  your stencil on the canvas as desired, burnish lightly to make sure the bleeding of your spray is minimal.  Color as desired.  The Spectrum Noir markers dry very quickly, so you can remove the stencil as soon as you finish spraying that last letter (if you plan on using the pattern again, then cover with the transfer tape and burnish back onto the tape.  Apply the backing as additional protection until you're ready to use it again.  If you're using stencil material you can spray the back with repositionable spray. I added some "doodling" to each of the letters using my Micron pen



Set up your ebrush and spray all the pieces you want to have some additional depth and texture on.  Glue the "grass" down first.  Now add the additional pieces.  You can use Modge Podge to secure things on the canvas.  Be sure to smooth so you don't get any buckling.  A few of the pieces I ran through the Xyron Creative Station, including all the lettering.  Spray the edges of the canvas with a brown marker.
If you used a liquid glue to secure everything on the canvas, you'll want to set it aside to dry thoroughly.  You can seal the entire front of the canvas with Modge Podge if desired.



Now assemble your banner pieces as desired.  To tone down the brown I sprayed on the edges earlier, dry brush some acrylic across the top and edges of each pennant and on the doily.  Let dry.    Thread the ribbon through the banner pieces and arrange as desired on the canvas.  I used a glue dot on the back of each pennant to help hold the pieces where I wanted them on the front of the canvas.  Use some hot glue or a thumbtack to secure the ribbon to the back of the canvas frame.  Add any additional embellishments as desired.

It's been a summer of traveling for me and when I saw these incredible papers by Teresa Collins, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to create this fun little case.  The file is from SVGCuts (Summer Holiday SVG Kit).

Cut all the pieces in the Train Case file using an electronic cutting machine and eBrush edges as desired.  You can find all the details on putting the case together in the SVGGCuts video here.  The file doesn't take long to put together once you've picked your papers - and if you're like me, that often takes more time than putting a project together!

If you want to add any additional ebrushing, you can do so now.  I decided I wanted a little more color on the edges and I add the trim to the bottom of the case.  I also added a bit more "color" to the lid.  I love to play with the ebrush.  I used Sharpies for this project, btw.

When I went to my stash of brads, I was sad to discover that I didn't have any bright or brushed gold ones the right size for this project... but hey, with the eBrush and a sharpie, you're good to go!  Her are the before and after pictures.

Now, complete the project with a few embellishments.  I added some chip pieces and a couple of tags.  You can certainly add a little more bling if desired.  The gold in the TC papers make the case look like it's metal -- not paper!  A couple of friends who saw this the other day were thinking I'd done some shopping and found a metal box -- nope!  Paper-crafting!

Hello eBrush fans... Today's post I will show you how layering colors can take your airbrushing further and add more depth and dimension to your projects.

For this example I use a beautiful die cut with embossing. These types of dies are very intricate and very beautiful all on it's own. But, I will show you how you take that beauty to a whole new level!

Supplies Used

eBrush with Sharpie(SP) Adapter

Sharpie Markers

Anna Griffin 's Flower Vine Die 

Craft cardstock

Patterned cardstock 

( DCWV- Endless Summer stack & Basic Grey- Serenade paper pad)

Virginia Turtle's Tree of Life Stamp set

VersaFine Inkpad in Onyx Black

Organza Ribbon

Rhinestone Button

EK Success  3D Dots (adhesive foam dots)

Here I will show you how to transform your die cuts and make them more realistic just by layering colors . I used an Anna Griffin die for this project but you can use any detail die of your choice!

 You will need to cut out your die with either plain white cardstock or plain craft cardstock. I find that using craft cardstock adds a more earthy appearance to my final result. Where as using white will brighten the results.

When layering my shading I like to use at least 2 tones of each color to add additional depth (ie. light green and green, lavender and purple, light pink and hot pink, orange and brown) having a light and dark version of each color. 

FIRST THE LEAVES

Here I layered my greens and orange and browns for the leaves. Working from lightest to darkest.

1. Ebrushed a layer of  green to all the leaves and stems.

2. Added a layer of dark green to just the stems and the thinner leaves.

3. Lightly ebrushed orange over the light green leaves.

4. Added brown just around the edges and the tips of the leaves.

NEXT ONTO THE FLOWERS

Starting with my purples and ending with my pinks for brightness.

5. Ebrush a even layer of lavender over all the flowers and buds.

6. Adding purple to the centers, edges, and de-bossed areas of the flower only.

7. Add an even layer of light pink over all the flowers.

8. Finish off by adding a layer of hot pink around the edges and de-bossed areas of the flowers.

Here's is the finished flower die cut. What a huge difference from the plain cut out version!!

Then I simply layered my patterned paper creating a card base. Added adhesive foam dots to the backside of the flower die cut and adhered it to my card. I stamped my sentiment from  Virginia Turtle's Tree of Life stamp set and tied a bow with some organza ribbon. Finally I  adding a rhinestone button in the center of the bow for some BLING...

And tah-dah...

Here is my FINISHED card...

Simply GORGEOUS!!
