Hello peeps, it’s Swathi here from Cookies Cake and Love with a fun quarantine project made to engage my son. I have come up with an art project this time and not a cake or cookie 😂. With everyone stuck at home now, the kids are getting bored too soon. To keep them engaged here is a fun doll house you can make with the things you have at home.




My son who is almost 5, who wanted a doll house for his dinosaurs and as any excited (read exhausted😅) mom I made him this doll house with a Costco grocery box and some patterned paper from Michael’s that I got from my friend years ago.

My son wanted a look alike wood floors for his house. So I used my trusted Craftwell eBrush with siphon kit and used some brown watercolor diluted with water and sprayed on some card stock paper. I then used a brown marker and drew lines to mimic the wood floor boards and drew some pattern. Looks close enough isn’t it.




I made a couple of sheets and it was also time to decorate the home. I used the patterned paper as wallpaper and stuck them on the sides. I then made a bed, sofa and kitchen counter tops with a old letter box and used some scrap fabric to give some volume to it. I hot glued all of them to the board so that it doesn’t move.



I made a center table out of air dry clay and used my Craftwell eBrush along with the marker adapter and spray painted it red. I then added a touch of gold to make it shimmer. I was able to put these all up with very few items.

eBrush + siphon kit

Dixie Belle Paints - Barn Red, Rebel Yellow, Midnight Blue, Chocolate, Drop Cloth

2. Emboss the magnetic sheet with Teresa Collins Woodgrain Cottage in the Cut'n'Boss using the following combination (bottom to top): D, A, Folder + Material, A.  MAKE SURE the magnetic side is FACE DOWN in the folder so that the pattern is DEBOSSED.

3a.  Use leaf-shaped cutting dies to cut out pieces of faux tan leather & magnetic sheet.  When cutting with the faux leather, place the leather side FACE DOWN on the cutting die.  When cutting with the magnetic sheet, place the magnetic/gloss side FACE UP.

3b.  ProvoCraft Cuttlebug dies with a 1/8" profile are quite thick for small metal dies.  The platform combination for these dies is as follows (bottom to top): D, Magnetic Shim, A, Dies, Material, A.

5.  Use super glue on the magnetic side of the leaves & glue ONLY the large, back portion of the paper clip to the magnetic leaf.  Let dry.

6a.  Mix some Dixie Belle chalkpaints, Chocolate & Midnight Sky, to get the right shade of brown.  Mix 3 parts chalkpaint to 1 part hard surface cleaner or Flow-Aid.  I used the eBrush siphon cup, though you can also use the bottle.  Spray to cover the entire embossed magnetic sheet.

6b.  Once the embossed magnetic sheet was sprayed, use the residual paint to airbrush the sides of the picture frame.  The sides will not be covered by the magnetic sheet, so they were airbrushed.

7.  Use the chip brush to add some texture & bring out the highlights in the embossed magnetic sheet.  I mixed equal parts of Dixie Belle Chocolate, Barn Red, Rebel Yellow & Drop Cloth.

8.  Super glue the top half of the faux leather leaf to the non-magnetic, matte side of the leaf.  It is important to only glue HALF of the leaf to the side of the small inner paper clip.  Super glue the painted, embossed magnetic board to the picture frame.  Let dry.

9.  TADAAAA!  Now you have a mini magnetic memo board!

BONUS: Use fabric paint in the eBrush siphon to add colors to your leaf memo clips!

Do you celebrate St Patrick's Day? We aren't Irish, we don't live in Ireland and we don't have a lick of Irish in our family heritage but it's a fun holiday to celebrate! We know who Saint Patrick was! Along the lines of our celebration, I created a fun "lucky" photo frame to decorate with.

The background, behind the lucky shamrock, was created with a fun technique using my Cut'N Boss and one of the Craftwell/Teresa Collin's embossing folders. Using a brayer to roll color over half of the embossing folder is a great way to add color to those embossed papers.

Once you brayer your paint over the folder, carefully close the folder, assemble the sandwich and run it through your Cut'N Boss.

I recommend that you roll the folder half while it is sitting on the bottom plates so that there is not moving of the sandwich necessary thus minimizing the potential for shift of the parts.

Trim the painted, embossed paper down to frame size and have fun getting lucky! All other elements but the shamrock are from Craftwell/Teresa Collins pocket dies. I hand cut the shamrock as that gold paper does not run through my electric cutting machine well.
