Design Team: Caroline Duncan Week 6 Term 4

Love Basket

Happy Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Challenge Week continues! See Caroline's lovely basket project below:

When planning what to make for our Valentine Challenge, I decided to make something 3D. This heart basket could really be altered a bit by changing the colors and paper to make a cute little Easter basket or one for Mother’s Day.

Instructions: Die cut in your eBosser, 4 hearts using the largest heart die from the Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Hearts die from any floral paper. Sandwich lacy ribbon between pairs of the hearts to make a front and back for the basket. To make the box portion, which is the “V” of the heart, cut a 2 x 7 inch strip of coordinating card stock. With the short side at the top, score it at the .25 inch and 1.75 inch marks. Then turn the piece so the long side is at the top and score at 3.5 inches. Snip the 2 short lines along the score you just made that are the 2 shortest from the edge to the intersection. Fold and glue to the front and back heart panels. Die cut 3 Parisian Accents Borders from the same cardstock to make the handle. Cut one of the border strips in half to lengthen the other two. Glue the Borders edge to edge on a .25 x 12 inch strip of card stock. Add cream colored crochet ribbon on the top and secure with glue and heart brads. Cover the “tails” of the brads with another thin strip of cardstock. Attach it to the basket sides with brads. Decorate the front of the basket with a cluster of handmade flowers. To get flowers that are stamped and die cut perfectly, stamp your flowers first. Make a template with the matching die by taping a ‘hinge’ on the die to a piece of blank card stock. Die cut the blank and remove the flower. Now you have a die that is taped to the surrounding negative of the cut. That is your template. Lift up the die and position the template around your stamped image until you have a perfect match. Tape the template into place with removable tape so the die will not move while cutting. Close the die hinge and cut as normal.
