Reclaimed table by Jan Hunter

Hi.  Jan here.  I love to upcycle cast-offs.  This month's projects have been fun to create.
We found this table at a thrift store -- It definitely could use some TLC, don't you think?

And now.... it looks like this!

The hardest part was deciding what the finished top should look like.  I decided to put a doily on the top.  The file is from SVGCuts, you can find it here, and I cut it with  my electronic die cutting machine using the default vinyl settings.

I wanted all the details of the doily to really pop, so I painted the top with a black paint I had on hand - applying two coats.  Let dry overnight (in this heat that probably wasn't necessary).  I applied the stencil to the table top, making sure that the rest of the table was also masked to prevent any stray spray landing in places I didn't want it to.

Now the really fun part!  Get your eBrush with the siphon adapter ready!  I chose an opaque white paint from Createx made especially for Airbrushing.  It's wonderful!  I chose to thin it a bit using some of the medium and stirred to blend.

And start spraying!  The coverage is awesome as you can see!

I loved that the paint didn't drip and the mist provided nearly full coverage with the first layer.  I sprayed 2x since I covering a black background.  The eBrush and siphon made this such an easy project!!!
Once the paint was really dry (a couple of hours later), I removed the stencil/mask from the table top.  It was so much fun watching the pattern reveal as the vinyl was removed.

My table will be out on the porch for the rest of the summer and into early fall, so I wanted to make sure there was a little more protection for the surfaces.  I applied 3 coats of matte Mod Podge to finish.  Voila!

Loving this and I think I may make another trip to thrift store.....

Thanks for dropping by.  More eBrush projects on my blog.

  1. Overbed tables are highly convenient for those who need to spend most of their time lying in bed. Overbed tables are commonly used in hospital rooms to make a situation more convenient by wheeling the table over the mattress for eating, reading or simply to rest anything on a flat surface. We are providing adequate designs to fit most patient needs for an overbed table.
