Denise O'Connor's Moving Card...

Happy Monday! This is the last week for Term 2 of our Design Team, and we can't believe how the time flew by so fast! But don't worry, this weekend we will have a special treat for you! We will have blog hop that will go on this coming weekend! (March 31st-April 1st) And prepare for the upcoming week when we will introduce some new faces to our Design Team line up! Today, Denise will show us a moving card, that will get your eyes going!

Spring Break is here! I love the spring, it seems like a great time to try new things and that is one of the things I love about crafting. There is always something new to try! In my 15 years of paper crafting, I am no where near the point where I feel like I have tried everything. Years ago, I made a spinner card for my nephew’s birthday. I did this by hand using a punch and it turned out OK and ever since I have started using electronic die cutters, I have been meaning to try it again but in a more advanced way.

Well back in February, Papertrey Ink released a new series of dies called Movers & Shakers. They are meant for making interactive cards and of course, I just had to get them. I don’t know about you all, but I am so excited about the eBosser and I have found myself stocking up on dies and embossing folders. I cannot wait for the day when my eBosser makes itself home in my little craft room!!

The first card that I have made with these dies are the Spinners. The dies rely on having a focal point that can move up and down (or side to side if you want to go more traditional) the track. I knew that I wanted something dimensional and PrintOnIt.com’s Bake & Shrink came to the rescue. I had just enough of this to cut a flower from the Quirky Flowers Cut It Set from Lettering Delights with my trusty eCraft. Before baking, I colored the flower with some Copics. I also cut another flower from the set that I blacked out in purple to go behind the Bake & Shrink flower to hide the mechanism that makes the flower spin. I also added a small circle on top of the flower to add the “Spin Me” sentiment from Papertrey Ink’s Movers & Shakers Sentiments.

The background is stamped with two different colors of ink with Papertrey Ink’s Background Basics: Medallions. The other sentiments are from their Simply You stamp set. This darling card is going to go to my niece who will be three soon! I really hope that she loves it!

Just to show you how the flower moves, I took a picture with it on it’s side so that you can see that the flower really does move along the track.
