Steppin' Up in style for Summer by Andrea Webster

Andrea here with another fun idea for some upcycling of some plain canvas slip-ons.

You'll need:
Canvas Shoes
masking or painters' tape
Sharpies® (colors of choice)
eBrush® and SP adapter
Paper towels
protective covering for work surface
Rubbing Alcohol*

*Adult supervision is required and it is recommended that you work in a well ventilated area.

eBrush, ceramics, stencils & Sharpies® by Guest Designer Andrea Webster

Andrea here and I'm excited to make a second appearance as a guest blogger again. If you read my last post, you'll know that I enjoy seeing what I can find at a local thrift store. I found some lovely ceramic pieces I knew I could have some fun with. So let's get started

You'll need:
index cards
Sharpies®
punches
glue stick
masking tape
ceramic dishes
alcohol/paper towel
eBrush and adapter

Create the stencils by gluing 2 index cards together. Using the desired punches, create your stencil

Using the alcohol and paper towel, clean the surface of the dishes to remove any oils or dirt. Let dry.
Adhere the stencil to the dishes -- using masking tape.
Seat the marker in the eBrush and spray your design.
Carefully remove the stencil. Your marker may be a little wet/sticky. Set aside and let dry overnight.
To heat set the color, bake on a cookie sheet at 275 degrees for about 60 minutes. Let the dishes come to room temperature before using. Dishes painted with Sharpies should not come into direct contact with food.

Guest Designer - Beth Wheeler

Hi everyone I am thrilled to do a guest post today. For those who don’t know me I like to experiment and often have I wonder if moments. On my work desk was bottles of pretty Ken Oliver Liquid Metals and an embossing folder which had not been put away. Although I had previously used a cosmetic sponge with the Liquid Metals after embossing I decided to see what would happen if I used the Liquid Metals on the folder itself.

I love how the background for my card turned out. I also love how my Teresa Collins eBosser is still going strong.

My other go to tool is the eBrush and once again I had to do some experimenting. For the top layer of the butterfly I eBrushed using a Spectrum Noir marker and then used a mister to spray rubbing alcohol.

I didn’t get the result I was after and next time I’ll get a brush wet with the alcohol and flick it. I can see using the mister perhaps on a section if you want to get a sun bleached look to your paper. Definitely a lot quicker and more controlled than if you manually tried to sun bleach paper.

Glitter glue on the butterfly base and Martha Stewart flocking (which had never been open) for the antennae complete the butterfly.

Add a die cut sentiment and there you have it an elegant card that anyone would be pleased to receive.

I hope I have inspired you to get out your embossing machine and folders and play. As well as to get out your eBrush if you have one and see what you can do that may be different. I’m thinking as I write this that a tie dye effect could probably be done by eBrushing with more than one color and then misting with alcohol. Did I mention that my mind is often coming up with I wonder moments.

Winter CHA 2015 Recap: Part 1

Well, it came and went as fast as it arrived! The Winter CHA 2015 Show is done! We had an amazing time while at the show and it was all a beautiful blur! If you have ever attended the show, you know what we mean! It's so exciting, so overwhelming, so fun, and yet so exhausting at the same time!

Now that I've had a day to absorb it all, here is my recount (according to me) of this wonderful annual show!

For those who may be new to the craft world, let me explain a little about the CHA Show.

CHA stands for CRAFT AND HOBBY Convention and it's held in Anaheim California. This is an annual show that brings all of the industry together for 4 days to debut the new releases for the year in anything craft related. It is truly exciting to see the genius new products coming for the new year. Of course this means that Craftwell is there! And exciting new products can now be revealed!

the eBrush has a new best friend!

The eBrush Siphon Adaptor Kit was introduced at the show and it was a HIT! Now you will be able to add liquid paints for a variety of projects!

Use food coloring to easily decorate cakes! Or how about using your favorite paints for mixed media! with the eBrush Siphon, the possibilities are endless, and we can't wait for you to get your hands on it!

As I mentioned above, the show was SUPER busy! But we still took time to take a quick snapshot of Team Craftwell!

When we go to these convetions, we love to take some projects from our design team! Pictured here are projects created by Pam Bray using the Cut 'n' Boss!

Gorgeous huh? And the thing that overwhelms us, is that there is seriously some drool worthy projects or products at every turn!

This globe ^ I found this painted globe at My Minds Eye booth! I love this idea for a kids room!

Love the gold and pink! This set up really inspired me! With my own daughters birthday coming up, it really stood out to me.

I'm in LOVE with Teresa Collins new iphone cases! I love to switch up my phone cases, and now I have more options to choose from! I personally love the watercolor pink!

Loved the way the Dear Lizzy booth was set up. The letters gave me an idea for room decor in my little girls room. I could even make them to fit my son's room, just using other textures.

Currently obsessed with Amy Tangerines line! Rise & Shine is amazing!

See what I mean about overwhelming?! So much pretty! I'm literally cleaning the drool from my keyboard!

Sharing for 2015 - The Craft Room!

I always wanted a place to come together with good friends and share my love of crafting, art and sewing. This is a sharing of actual "Craft Group". They meet and share ideas and projects. Maybe this is your year to get the craft room fever! Thank you Jan Hunter for sharing!

Come Play with us!

We've been "playing" now for 8 1/2 years now. Hard to believe that this now 2x a week gathering has been going on for this long. It's still fun!
We started in May of 2006, meeting together once a month... making cards Our motto was and still is: "There are no Rules, just opportunities for embellishment." Well, as things go, we soon discovered that once a month wasn't sufficient to get all the cards made , learn new crafting techniques or stay caught up... so we soon started meeting every Saturday starting at 10am and going until the last gal dropped! LOL We've had a few Saturdays where 12 hours later, we were still crafting.

We started with eight women and continued to share with friends. A few have moved away, we've experienced the passing of one of our group, shared the highs and lows of life in general. We've learned much from each other.

Early in our 2nd year of gathering, we started meeting on Wednesday's too. It was fun to get together during the middle of the week and continue to learn and grow from each other. Every woman in our group has certain strengths and loves sharing what they make during their sessions in the craftroom.We started with making cards and 3D creations, a little bit of home decor and other crafting. We've made paper, painted on canvas, folded paper and oh, so much more over the years - filling our homes (and our kids, and friends) with many of our projects. There are a few gals who drop by, that don't craft -- but they enjoy the company and companionship of the group. All are welcomed and it's always fun to visit.

While we still use steel rule dies and embossing folders, stamps and inkpads from several well known companies, we have upgraded to electronic cutting machines and so mch more, including the use of Craftwell's ebrush in a couple of our most recent gatherings. The sewing machine even makes an occasional appearance. And we've even gone on a couple of road trips to pick up some additional stash! So much fun and lots of adventures!

It's not hard to start your own group... just visit with a few friends, invite them over for an afternoon or evening of crafting. For a couple of your first gatherings, prepare a quick craft for everyone to do to start things off and then let them work on their selected projects for the rest of the time. We generally have a potluck and invite everyone to share a dish. We've never been disappointed and it's always a surprise to see what is on the counter! Lots of crafting time and oodles of great conversation every time we get together.
