Chinese New Year Banner!

Cut 'n' Boss Design Team: Alexia Misso Cycle 12

Hello! I don't know how many of you celebrate Chinese New Year but I'm for one very looking forward to this day. It's the year of Monkey and this year it falls on the 8th of February (yep, it's different each year depending on the lunar calendar). When I was young the celebration was huge, everyone would come home for the Chinese New Year Eve dinner - reunion dinner. But ever since I got married (especially when I'm so far away from home) I don't feel that kind of excitement anymore. There is no "reunion dinner" because I will not be around my mom and siblings.

However, this year I want to change it up a little bit, I want my children to know what part of their culture is - being half Chinese. So we will be taking them to see the parade this year (if the weather permits!) and get involved in other CNY activities. My first project was to create this banner so I can decorate the living room, bring on the festivity! The characters "万事如意" means: Wish the best of everything or hope everything goes your way.

Supplies:

- Laser Printer
- Laminator / MINC Machine
- Four 8 x 6 red card stocks
- Four 8 x 5.5" patterned card stocks
- White card stocks (for making the doilies)
- Gold Foil Transfer Sheet
- Doilies Die
- Circle Die
- Flower Embossing Folder
- Red Ribbon
- Bows

Step 1: Use your laser printer, print the Chinese characters on a red card stock (make sure to leave some space between each characters). Please see attachments for template.

Step 2: Cut squares of gold foil and layer it on top of each characters, make sure to cover the entire print area. If you prefer, secure the gold foil with a piece of tape to keep it in place.

Insert the red card stock with goil foil (one at a time) into a folded A4 paper (like a sandwich!)

Step 3: Run the A4 sandwich through the laminator.

Here is what you will get...sparkly! Remember to cut each character out in circle shape (use circle die if you have one!)

Step 4: Make the doilies die-cuts with Cut 'n' Boss and emboss the patterned papers

Step 5: Adhere the embossed patterned papers on top of the red card stocks, then cut fish tail shape on each of them.

Step 5: Adhere the characters to the doilies. Then apply double-sided foam tapes on the back of the doilies and adhere it to the patterned paper. Finally, punch holes on the each banner piece and string the ribbon through the punched holes.

That's it! I hope you like the project!

'Love' Banner

Cut 'n' Boss Design Team: Alexia Misso Cycle 11

Because LOVE should be celebrated year round! See today's gorgeous banner by Alexia Misso below!

Happy Thursday! I hope your day has been treating you well! Thank you for checking out my post today, this is the second week of Bella Blvd and Craftwell team up month so I have this cute little banner project I want to share with you using both companies' products.

I absolutely love the patterned papers and the 12x12 acetate sheet from Bella Blvd, they are so beautiful. Did I also mention before about their cute embellishments too? You gotta have them, look at those bows and chipboard stickers on the banner. Aren't they adorable? Of course, this project wouldn't be perfect without Craftwell's elements and if you are into cut-out sentiments/titles, the Teresa Collins' die collections are the definite go-to product.

Here is how I create this banner:

Step 1: Trace a heart share on a 12x12 (scallop-edged) acetate sheet from Bella Blvd.

Step 2: Cut out the heart shapes using a scissor.

Step 3: Trace the cut out heart shape on 12x12 patterned card stock.

Step 4: Cut out the heart shape and adhere the cut-out acetate on top of the card stock hearts. I used my 5" sticker maker to do this.

Step 5: Cut out the embellishments from Teresa Collins' metal dies and start embellishing.

Step 6: Punch holes for string for the banner and attach bows in between each decorated heart shape.

I hope you enjoy this project! Thank you for looking and I hope you have a wonderful day.

Alexia

Cut 'n' Boss Design Team: Pam Bray Cycle 11

Be ready for your next celebration with today's cute gift idea!

See Pam's adorable project below!

Hi!!! Pam here today sharing with you my Tiny Tots Congratulations and Gift Card Ensemble.

Begin by first cutting a piece of Bella Blvd Tiny Tots pattern paper using Sizzix Box with Flap Die  and Craftwell Cut N Boss.

Once favor box is cut, form and decorate with Bella Blvd Paper Pieces. Cut two pieces of Bella Blvd Tiny Tots pattern paper to form a pocket to place your gift card in but small enough to fit in the prepared and decorated favor box. Add a gingham tie ribbon to the gift card pocket and also around the flap of the gift box, tie in a bow.

Emboss green Core'dination paper using Craftwell Twill Herringbone Embossing Folder.

Here is a closer look at the Twill Herringbone embossed paper. Don't you love how deep that the Cut N Boss embosses your papers.

Die cut 5 of the Mini Delicate Doilies with the Cut N Boss and Bella Blvd Tiny Tots Paper.

Place green Twill Herringbone embossed paper to top of card front, add doily die cuts. Add a Bella Blvd Tiny Tots pattern paper flag. Stamp "Congratulations" to top of Owl Journal Card, place on top of prepared card. Add black gemstone to the eyes of the owl.
