Dinosaur cake for 4 year old!!

Hello Everyone,

I am Swathi from CookiesCakeandLove and I am new to the Craftwell Design team. I am a hobby baker and bake goodies for my family and friends. I am delighted to join the Craftwell team and explore the ebrush with the siphon adapter to decorate my cakes.

I am recently blessed with a baby girl and I already have a son who turned 4 last week. I decided to pull out my baking pans after a long time to bake a cake for my son's birthday. I was also very eager to try out the ebrush system for decorating the cake.

My son loves dinosaurs and hence I decided at the last moment to create a dinosaur themed cake for his birthday. Since I dint have a lot of time to prepare, I decided to do airbrush dinosaur silhouettes on the cake.

I baked 4 layer chocolate and vanilla cake and frosted it with condensed milk buttercream. I should have gone with a regular American Buttercream but decided to use the condensed milk buttercream as this had raging reviews on the internet now. I tinted the buttercream white to give a plain blank canvas to airbrush on.

I decided to try a sunset background for the cake to make the dinosaur silhouttes to pop out. I used US Cake supply airbrush colors to use with the ebrush. I used a golden yellow, Sunset orange and dark brown color to give the effect. I first added the yellow color in the siphon well and airbrushed the top of the cake. It was easy to empty the well, clean it and reuse it with another color. I then used the same technique to airbrush orange and brown color to the cake.

I chilled the cake for 24 hours before I added the dinosaurs with the help of stencils made by my good friend Berina. I then placed stencil of dinosaur on the cake and used the black color to create a silhouette effect on the cake. I placed the different dinosaur stencils and sprayed black color with the ebrush,The dinosaurs came out really good with a slight blurred effect.

I further painted small trees, birds and rocks with black color and added crushed oreos on top of the cake and the bottom to give a fossil effect. I placed a brontosaurus toy on top of the cake with a happy birthday glowing plaque from Walmart with a number 4 candle. Hope you all liked my first post on this blog. We had a small celebration at home and everyone loved how the cake had come out.

I am still learning the different ways to use the ebrush and hope I could create more goodies in the days to come. Bye for now.
