Guest Post- Yolie Burke! Altered Wood Plaque!

Guest Post by designer, Yolie Burke!

Yolie created this beautiful altered wooden heart plaque. I love all of it! Thank you so much Yolie!

I love the unfinished and rough surface; natural, organic.  Pictured below is one of the templates {stencil} used.

Here are  just a few of the metal findings I used to embellish the wood plaque.  I airbrushed the white and silver medallions with a gold metallic Sharpie.  Not pictured, the metal roses were originally gunmetal and pink. I eBrushed them with a red Sharpie.

I eBrushed the designs using a Red, Brown and Metallic Gold Sharpie moving the template slightly  to highlight with red.

Additional, I used modeling paste for texture and before it dried,  I sprinkled red glitter to the paste.

The large metal 'Love' was a find at the jewelry section of my local craft store.  I wrapped a key with twine and placed it on the eBrushed flourish.  The metal roses, rhinestones and the metal findings were adhered with an industrial strength glue.

They say there are "no mistakes in art {crafts}".  It's true. The eBrush got away from me and I covered my "blunder" using a strip of ruffled canvas ribbon.  Here's how:  I eBrushed the canvas strip with red and metallic gold, added a strip of red rhinestones and used it to cover the "blunder", but it needed a little more.  I attached an owl, love charm to a round bezel and adhered it to the medallion before gluing it to the ribbon.

I hope you enjoyed my project today. Thank you for stopping by,
Yolie
