Not Your Average Pencil Box

Caroline has amazing taste. So, if she is challenged to create a back to school project, you know its not your average project! Check out what she created today, to go back to school in style!

Hi Everyone!  For our August challenge this week, we were to create a back to school gift for a teacher using the new Teresa Collins embossing folders, so I made a pretty little pencil box!  I don’t have children, but I have friends who are teachers and I think they would love to receive something like this.  It is a quick project and the embossed Teresa Collins Designer Paper with the Cabbage Rose folder gives it just the right amount of extra detail.  I love seeing all the numbers behind the cabbage rose emblem!   I started with a small box I had on hand from a purchase I made a while ago and thought it would make a great box to alter.  It’s perfect for pencils and pens!  I painted the inside and out and crackled the 4 sides and inside the lid.  Then I cut a piece of the numbered side of Teresa Collins Family Stories ‘multi stripe’ DP.  A quick line up in the letter sized Teresa Collins Cabbage Rose embossing folder to emboss with my eBosser.  It gives such a crisp emboss that I just love!  After embossing, I swiped my ink pad over the raised areas and around the edges.  Adhered it to the box top and finished decorating it with a knob, flowers, stacked buttons for feet, and tied on a Teresa Collins chipboard mini tag and star from the Memorabilia Decorative Buttons collection.  The mini tag and star are stickers, so I dusted the sticky side with powder so it would hand freely.
