Guest Designer: Kay Brown

Meet Kay Brown from Xyron's Design Team!

We have a creative treat for you all today! Meet Kay Brown from Xyron's Design Team! As many of you know, the eCraft and Xyron adhesives are like cheese to macaroni, they simply go together! So, when we received pictures of Kay's projects, we knew she deserved her own post! The best part? this is only a taste of what's to come!

Read on, to find out more about Kay!

As a child I was introduced to art at early age. My grandparents and parents are very creative. To me a day isn't complete if I haven't experienced some type of creativity. I love paper crafts, watercolor painting, and sewing.  I have the privilege of serving on the Xyron Design team. When I started scrapbooking 8 years ago, my first purchase was the Xyron 9" Creative Station, so it is seems only natural for me to create for Xyron! It is so exciting to be able to share with you all (yes I am from the south! ) a fun project that I created using the Craftwell eCraft electronic cutting system and Xryon adhesive.

I am crazy about birds and picket fences, so when I saw these SVG cuts on the eCraftcentral.com Online Digital Image Store I knew I had to make a project with them! These little birds hold a banner that reminds me to never give up, but keep dreaming! Our home has been on the market for several months now, but when I look at this project I am reminding that dreams do come true! Our home will sell!

When I unpacked the eCraft I was a bit apprehensive, because I am not proficient with computers. After reading the clear directions and asking customer service a couple of questions I was up and running! The eCraft has given me a new excitement in my crafts. I love the software that comes with the machine. To be able to import any SVG cut or True Type Font and then manipulate them to my liking is so fun!

Products used:
Xyron Creatopia
Xyron Stickz Permanent Adhesive
Xyron 1.5" Sticker Maker
Craftwell eCraft
Myscrapchick.com SVG cut for banner
eCraftcentral.com Online Digital Image Store bird and fence SVG cuts
CanvasCorp cord
DCWV The Coral Couture Cardstock Stack
DCWV The Coral Couture Stack
ColorBox Fluid Chalk ink
Bazzill Bling Brads
American Crafts white cardstock

For this project I resized the picket fence. Then I cut out 8 fences, adhering two sets of four together. I used the Xyron Creatopia with the Stickz Permanent Adhesive. The Creatopia makes it so easy to apply edge to edge adhesive on up to 12" surface.  This made the fences strong enough to stand up. I cut small pieces of scrap cardstock to create hinges to hook the two sets of fence together.
Next I resized the birds. I cut 2 from cardstock and two from patterned paper. One thing I love about the eCraft software is the ability to move the cut anywhere on the paper so that I can cut around the pattern  on the paper.

The Xyron adhesive made it so easy to layer the banner and capture the cord within the layers.
The last items I cut was the flowers.  I resized four different flowers. I cut them out of 3 different colors of cardstock and alternated the layers, curling up the edges for dimension.

Thanks! Kay Brown

Thank you Kay! Isn't this a sweet project? We just love it! And of course it was all made possible using Xyron products!
