Design Team: Jennifer McCrae Week 12 Term 2

Jennifer McCrae's Travel Tag
We say goodbye to this the second term of our DT with Jennifer, but we don't like the word 'goodbye', we say au revoir, which is prettier! And don't worry, our new design team is back next week! So, for now, lets travel to Paris with Jen!
"The Climb"
I can almost see it.
That dream I'm dreaming, but
There's a voice inside my head saying
You'll never reach it
Every step I'm takin'
Every move I make
Feels lost with no direction,
My faith is shakin'
But I gotta keep tryin'
Gotta keep my head held high

There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waitin' on the other side
It's the climb

The struggles I'm facing
The chances I'm taking
Sometimes might knock me down, but
No I'm not breaking
I may not know it, but
These are the moments that
I'm gonna remember most
I've just gotta keep goin', and
I gotta be strong
Just keep pushing on, cause

There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waitin' on the other side
It's the climb

We’ve reached the time in my daughter’s life where she has begun the process to plan her high school years with her future in mind.  Now while I’m very impressed with how her high school handles the process, its my daughter END goal that has me a little anxious!  lol  You have to understand...she’s my baby; she’s my one and only!  So although I feel she should follow her dreams, I wasn’t expecting them to have her end up in a foreign country!  EEEEK!

My father, on the other hand, thinks its fabulous and sent her book on Living in Paris.  This is also the same man who thought it was amusing to send my daughter noise making toys when she was a toddler!  lol
One this is certain though...I hope that my daughter doesn’t end up too focused on fulfilling her dream that she ends up missing out on all the wonderful things that will happen along the way.  I’ve seen people that worked so hard to get to the dream and then realize they missed out on life in process...

So I’m encouraging my daughter to follow her dreams and along the road, I’m going to encourage her to enjoy life along the way.  The encouragement starts with this book mark, which thankfully, she LOVES!  I love how it turned out too!

What I Used:
Mischief & eCraftshop Pro
Bake n Shrink Paper
eCraft diecutable card stock - Olive Oil
Image from eCraft Central
Tim Holtz Pattern Paper
Vellum
Printer
Olive Green Ribbon
Eiffel Tower Image
Hole Punch
Laminator
Heat Embossing Tool

How I Did It:
I used Mischief to cut out the image from eCraftshop Central after I tweaked it a little to make the bottom longer.  I also used Mischief to cut the oval from the pattern paper and from the vellum.

I used my printer to print the message on vellum in a font that my daughter chose.  I also used my printer for the Eiffel tower image; keep in mind that the Bake n Shrink paper will reduce your image to 1/4 its original size.  Instead of baking my image, I cheated and used my heat embossing gun.  LOL  Since I knew I was going to hang my Eiffel tower, I left room at the top when I printed it and punched a hole in the top of the paper before shrinking it down.

Once everything was cut and printed, I stacked my papers and ran them through my laminator.  I trimmed off the extra laminator sheet and then hole punched the top.  Finally I ran the ribbon through both the laminated bookmark and the Eiffel Tower charm to complete the bookmark.  It turned out so cute that I almost kept it for myself!  hahahaha
