Design Team: Kim Gaughan Week 8 Term 5

Follow Your Own Star

We are loving this totally sweet and easy card by Kim Gaughan. She always has unique ways to dress up a card! See today's project below:

I had this card all finished but still could not find a sentiment that I liked. So, I searched through some stamps I haven't gotten around to using yet (I'm not the only one that "collects" stamps right?) and this one just jumped out at me. It's a terrific message and fits great with this card.

Supplies
-eBosser by Craftwell and magnetic shim
-Embossing folder - Cheetah by Sizzix
-Colorbox Ink in Lilac
-Sizzix Stars Framelits ( 7/8"x3/4", 1 3/4"x1 5/8", 2 5/8"x2 1/2")
-Xyron 5 inch Creative Station; permanent adhesive refill and laminate refill
-Glitzy Glitter by Stampendous
-Stamp - Follow your own star sentiment from Unity Stamp Co April 2012 Kit of the month
- pop dots and adhesive
-scissors
-cardstock, black and white
- Tsukineko Memento Ink
First, I embossed a piece of white cardstock with the cheetah embossing folder. I then lightly applied ink onto the raised areas with a lilac ink pad. While that was drying, I cut out the stars using the platform combination - A on top, cardstock, star die facing up, magnetic shim, c plate, b plate, d plate. Then I put the stars through my Xyron using the permanent adhesive refill. I sprinkled glitter to the sticky side of the stars and then ran them through the Xyron again, this time using the 2 sided laminate refill in the Xyron. After the glitter stars were laminated, I cut off the excess laminate with my scissors. I adhered the cheetah background onto a black cardstock card and then attached the stars with pop dots. (If you find the stars aren't sticking with the pop dots, you may need to use a little glue instead). I stamped the sentiment onto white cardstock, cut it out with scissors, adhered it onto black cardstock and cut that out leaving a border and attached it to the bottom right of the card.
I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!

Thank you Kim!

  1. It's a great idea to wish a one who cares about you. I remember that when I was in a logo design agency who's work is to deliver logo design services in Pakistan as well as all over the world I have sen that colleagues are wishing one another by using such creative cards. By the way, I like the creativity of a one who did hard efforts to create such creative cards.
