Design Team: Denise O'Connor Week 3 Term 2

Denise O'Connors: Purple Lamp

It's challenge week for the Design Team! Using DCWV paper & Mr. Cricut Crazy (puppy) Stamps, we challenge the team to come up with some fabulous home decor! Not all the girls had the same stamps, so they had to get creative! So, how do you incorporate a puppy stamp into a living room lamp? Keep reading to find out!

Who is ready to play a game???
As you know by now, this month our sponsors are the wonderful Die Cuts With A View (DCWV) and Mr. Cricut Crazy Stamps! This week is also our challenge week where each one of us needs to make a project using our eCraft and our fabulous sponsors to create….HOME DÉCOR!!
It’s pretty obvious that my DCWV Collage Musings paper got quite a workout! This paper stack is SO wonderful for home décor!
So here is where the game comes….can you guess where the Mr. Cricut Crazy Stamps are?

I’ll give you a hint…I used this doggy!
Well, did you guess? Come on, take a good close look!
Does this help?

Well if you guess that I masked off some doggy hair to create the leaves on my flower, then you are right!!! Way to go….Virtual High Five!
I also masked off a little piece from the other dog in the Gus stamp set from Mr. Cricut Crazy Stamps to add something to the top layer of the flower.
Those lavender jaggy lines were the masked stamp that I stamped with Jenni Bowlin ink in Lavender Sachet that I got from Joann.com. This really helped to blend in the yellow and orange paper with the purple layers underneath it.
Want to know how I created those little leaves? Well give me a moment, we will get there!
The original lamp was a silver metal base with a plain white shade. While there is nothing wrong with it, it really doesn’t fit in my room especially on the new end table that I found at Hobby Lobby! Love this table!!
So to start with, I painted the parts of the lamp that weren’t going to be covered in DCWV paper with some of Martha Stewart’s new craft paint sold exclusively at Michaels. This paint adheres to metal without a problem! The color that I used was Vanilla Bean. Then I went about covering the lamp and the shade with my Die Cuts With A View Collage Musings paper with the help of some Glue N Seal in Matte finish from Inkssentials(I got mine at Michaels). This stuff is great because it doesn’t leave that tackiness that Mod Podge does.
When that was done and dry, I used some Tim Holtz Tissue Tape from Hobby Lobby to go along the seams of the shade and some Distress Ink to color it to blend in with the paper better. I then applied another coat of the Glue N Seal on top.
Now, that that is all done, time to embellish! I cut out Flower #4 from the Felt Owl Right SVG set from Lettering Delights on my eCraft using some more DCWV Collage Musing paper and some scrap cardstock from my stash. I did not cut out the leaves from this set. Instead, I did this…

That’s all there is to it!!!
I masked off the stamp with some post its, inked it up and stamped away! So super easy! Imagine the possibilities! Is it any wonder that I have been on stamping kick since I figured out how easy it was to do this?? Top off the flower with a wooden button and you’re good to go!
Oh, and I just HAVE to show you how great this lamp looks when it is turned on!!! I have really enjoyed having it next to my bed, it gives off such a nice soft glow of light!
And yes, that is a deep purple wall. My husband really loves me!!!
Come back everyday to see what Home Décor projects Debi, Lyssa, Raven & Jennifer have created!! These ladies rock! I find myself getting inspired by them all the time!!
